Asset managers are failing to pass on the benefits of economies of scale to investors, according to new analysis, which comes as the UK financial watchdog has said it may “intervene to promote effective competition” following its asset management market study. Hugues Gillibert, chief executive officer of Fitz Partners, a research company specialising in fund fees, says research by his firm shows that economies of scale being passed on to investors are “very limited”.
